A big portion of the total expense of your Walt Disney World vacation will be your hotel
room, condo, or other accommodations in the Orlando area. For some people, their hotel is
just a place to sleep. Much of their day is spent in the Disney theme parks and other attrac-
tions in the Orlando area. For those people, it's hard to justify spending big bucks on a hotel
room regardless of whether or not it's on Disney property.
Other families (like ours) like to have a place to relax and unwind during the morning and
evening hours- and maybe even during a mid-day break from the rides and attractions of
Disney's theme parks. This type of family can justify spending a bit more for more space,
more luxurious accommodations, or even the atmosphere found at higher-end resorts, con-
dominiums, or rental homes.
Topics in this section will provide options and top picks for any budget. Check out the hotel
categories topic to see exactly what you'll be getting in each hotel category if you stay on
Disney property. You'll find my top picks for Disney deluxe resorts, moderate resorts, value
resorts, and deluxe villas. If you plan to stay offsite, I'll examine options for other hotels,
condos, and other off-property resorts in the Orlando area- all within a short drive of the
Disney theme parks.
