Florida weather
When Walt Disney began scouting new locations for his follow up project to Disneyland in
California, one of his requirements was that it be located in an area of the country where it
could be open year-round. Given the mild winters in central Florida, he certainly got that!
If you're from the U.S., or possibly anywhere on Earth, you may already know that cent-
ral Florida is hot in the summer. I mean really H-O-T hot! If you're coming from a cooler
climate this will be quite an adjustment for you if you're visiting Disney in the heat of the
summer. Consider this if you decide to take your trip during the kids' summer vacation.
It'snotjusthoteither-it'svery,very,humid.I'mtalkingdrenchedwithsweatwhenyouwalk
outside at 8:00 a.m. humid. If you're from Texas, Arizona, or other areas of the southwest,
you'll be used to the heat, but chances are youwill NOT be accustomed to the humidity ofa
Florida summer. (Especially later in the summer in the July-August timeframe.)
Another factor to consider if you plan a Disney vacation in the summer is the rain. The heat
and humidity of the Florida summer bring rain and thunderstorms nearly every day. The
good news is that in most cases it's not the 'rain all day and ruin your vacation' rain, it's
more like periods of 'brief showers that cool the temps 10 degrees and feel really, really
good when you're hot' rain. Never fear, the clouds will clear and the temps (and humidity)
will go right back to where they were before the storms.
According to Weather.com, here's a look at the average temperatures and rainfall you can
expect during your Disney vacation:
