In-Depth Information
Note about bikinis: Unless you want to risk putting on a very un-family friendly show at
the bottom of the slide, do NOT ride Summit Plummet in a skimpy string bikini. Chances
are you'll lose one (or both!) of the pieces on your way down the slide. The force of the
water at 60 mph is too much for the suit to handle. This happened on our last trip to the
teenagegirlinlineinfrontofus-muchtoher(andherdad's)embarrassment.Luckilymom
was waiting at the bottom of the slide with a towel ready so 'the show' was brief.
If you wear a swimsuit like this, you may get to the bottom before your suit does!
The lifeguard at the top said this happens about 30 times a day. Your best bet is to wear a
one-piece bathing suit instead. You've been warned!
Teamboat Springs
According to Wikipedia, Teamboat Springs is the world's longest “family white-water raft
ride” at 1,400 feet long. Not sure if anyone can confirm this (is that a record that's really
tracked?) but I can tell you that Teamboat Springs is great fun for the entire family! After
you climb the stairs (or take the chairlift) to the Green Slope at the top of Mt. Gushmore,
you'll find Teamboat Springs just across the path from Summit Plummet and Slush Gush-
er. You and up to five others will climb aboard a large round rubber raft. You'll sit around
the perimeter of the raft with your feet in the middle. You have only a few seconds to get
situated and grab the handles before you are whooshed down the first hill before making a
big splash in the white-water below.
