ney's Animal Kingdom. A sixth land, Camp Minnie-Mickey, was closed in early 2014 to
make way for a new Avatar-themed area expected to open at Animal Kingdom in early
2017. Here's a brief overview of each of the lands of Disney's Animal Kingdom:
Oasis
Although the Oasis is really nothing more than the entrance to Disney's Animal Kingdom,
and provides no attractions, it becomes a vital part of the Animal Kingdom experience as
you traverse the winding paths into the jungle. Oasis is also home to the Rainforest Café
which has entrances both inside and outside of the park. It also features guest services,
lockers, and an ATM.
Discovery Island
Once you pass through the Oasis area of Animal Kingdom after entering the park, you'll
crossthebridgetothetranquilpathsandexotictrailsofDiscoveryIsland.DiscoveryIsland
is the center hub of Disney's Animal Kingdom and is the main thoroughfare that leads
to the other areas of the park. As you stroll down the paths traversing Discovery Island
you'll encounter a variety of wildlife along the way as the island is home to white stork,
red kangaroo, the Galapagos tortoise and many other species.
Intricate carvings in The Tree of Life
The Tree of Life soars high above the island and features over 300 animal carvings cel-
ebrating the diversity and harmony of nature. Among the carvings are lions, deer, eagles,
