park to open at Walt Disney World was Disney's Epcot theme park. The Experi-
mental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT) was conceived by Walt Disney him-
self shortly before his death in 1966, and was one of the reasons he began to acquire land in
the Orlando area during this time. Walt's vision of EPCOT was that it would “take its cue
from the new ideas and new technologies that are emerging from the forefront of American
industry. It will be a community of tomorrow that will never be completed. It will always be
showcasing and testing and demonstrating new materials and new systems."
You can still see the original architectural model for his planned city when you ride the To-
morrowland Transit Authority attraction at Magic Kingdom.

Although it's mainly known for its international flavor thanks to its World Showcase, Dis-
ney's Epcot theme park has a variety of rides and attractions to entertain you for the entire
day. Although Epcot lacks genuine thrill coasters, attractions such as Spaceship Earth, Test
Track, and Mission: SPACE help make Epcot worth the trip. While in the park, you'll defin-
itely want to check out Soarin', which was moved to Walt Disney World's Epcot theme park
from Disneyland. Soarin' makes the trip worthwhile in and of itself!
Disney's Epcot theme park is composed of three sections: Future World East, Future World
West,andWorldShowcase.TheFutureWorldscelebrate innovationandinventionsonland,
