ordinary G-rich oligonucleotides do in water. Cation-free ribbon-like
aggregates [24] (Fig. 4.13c) and continuous helix supramolecular
structures [22,23] (Fig. 4.13e,f ) analogously show liquid crystalline
properties. In the case of ribbon-like aggregates the lyomesophase
is characterized by an unusual two-dimensional square lattice (Fig.
4.13d).
