Shwe Sisa BEER STATION
(Strand Rd; draught beer K600; 9am-10pm) Brew with a view. Perched over the riverside
a block southwest of the guesthouses, Shwe Sisa is fine for a beer or barbecued 'Slavia'
fish.
Getting There & Away
At the time of writing, foreigners were not allowed on buses to or from Katha.
IWT ferry tickets are only available an hour before departure and can be bought from
opposite the main jetty.
Buy tickets for the Katha-Mandalay express boat a day before departure from the of-
fice on the riverfront.
The nearest train station on the Mandalay- Myitkyina line is at Naba, 16 miles west of
Katha. A daily train connects Katha-Naba ($2, 2pm), while there are two afternoon
buses to Naba (K1000, 2pm & 5pm).
