at the New Light Hotel (just north of the clock tower). There are a number of internet
cafes but connections are deadly slow.

Getting There & Away
At the time of writing, foreigners were only allowed to arrive and leave Myitkyina by
plane or train, or by private car with a guide.
Myitkyina's airport is a couple of miles from the town centre. A three-wheeler/motor-
bike taxi costs K3000/3500. On arrival at the airport, you'll be half-heartedly quizzed by
the immigration police.
The train station is close to the clock tower in the centre of town.
Boats leave from the Talawgyi Pier, a K5000 ride from town in a three-wheeler.
