For the money, the best deal in town.
The rooms are compact and the cheapest are without windows and bathrooms, but the
doubles with shower are acceptable.

Breezy place, even if the small

Earthen-
ware amphorae, ornate teak chests and carved gilded panel-work reveal that some
thought has gone into the design here, although the rooms are a little musty for boutique
status. A solid midrange option with helpful staff.

Owned by tycoon Tay Za, this painstakingly precise recreation of the former British gov-
ernor's mansion is a considerable achievement. However, only five suites are within the
main half-timbered mansion, with the remaining accommodation being in stylish but
modern bungalows at the bottom of the extensive grounds (electric buggy links).

The high-ceilinged rooms with solid
wooden furniture mirror Pyin Oo Lwin's retro colonial vibe. Comfortable beds, obliging
staff and a pleasant garden with fading sun-loungers. Bike hire is K2500 a day.
