A Sagaing-Mingun fee (K3000) is half-heartedly collected on the east side of Mingun
Paya. In peak season this might be checked at the Mingun Bell but we weren't asked for
it at all.
From November to February little Mingun can feel overloaded with visitors (espe-
cially before 1pm, when most tourist boats return to Mandalay). But drinks sellers and
oil-painting vendors are easily avoided by simply walking around behind the monuments
on the dusty paths to the west. Views from these paths are most attractive in the after-
noon when sunlight illuminates the west-facing side of Mingun Paya.
