There are basic local tea-shops at Maha Aungmye Bonzan, Nogatataphu, each of the vil-
lages and at the main (eastern) jetty, where there are two appealing tourist-friendly op-
tions:

has tables dotted through a tree-shaded garden backing onto a modest colonial-era
wooden house (not part of the restaurant).

(mains K2000-4000; 6am-5pm) Follow the signs to this slightly hidden garden restaur-
ant with attractive river views.
Getting There & Away
Sagaing-Mandalay pick-ups can drop you at Inwa Lanzou junction just west of Ava
Bridge. From there it's a 15-minute walk or a 10-minute trishaw ride (K200) to the My-
itnge river crossing. A covered wooden longboat shuttles across to Inwa's eastern jetty
(two minutes, K800 return) around every 15 minutes according to demand, last at 6pm.
One or two motorbikes could physically be bundled aboard but ticket sellers refuse to let
tourists take their bikes across westbound. However, bringing them back from Inwa is
OK.
Unless you specify otherwise, most taxis and motorbike taxis will also drop you at the
Myitnge jetty. However, motorbikes can drive right into Inwa via two possible routes off
the airport highway. One route starts directly west of the big river bridge at milepost
357.8, to the southwest of Amarapura. An alternative access lane starts across the round-
about from the Paleik road junction at milepost 357. From the latter head north then turn
right at the first T-junction, sidestepping the broken bridge on a bike-wide track and re-
