Imphal (Manipur, northeast India) - in November 2013 Golden Myanmar operated a
one-off Mandalay-Imphal flight. If this route becomes regular it could become a game-
changer in offering a whole new route between Myanmar and northeastern India.
Domestic
The government-run Myanma Airways has a lacklustre reputation and sells its own tick-
ets directly, sometimes only at short notice. For other domestic flights, we have often
found that travel agencies offer prices that are competitive or even better than buying dir-
ect from airline offices, so do shop around. However, Golden Myanmar does offer online
pre-booking discounts to Yangon ($36 to $85). See table for other fares.
