For a 40-room hotel, a large chandelier dangling from a two-story foyer might seem a
little excessive but it's stylishly done. The brand-new rooms are impeccably tidy and
well equipped, and the chunkily rounded wooden furniture looks durable. Some rooms
have very limited natural light.

Walking past you'd never guess that this enticing palm-shaded oasis lay just behind all
the dreary buildings of 26th St. The airy, tiled lobby is entered across a fish pond and
there's an attractive outdoor pool (nonresidents $5). Statuettes and local paintings add
some sparse interest to rooms that are comfortable but not luxurious. If possible choose

tractive, staff are energetic and a rooftop bar is planned, but some stained corridor car-

on landings, but it's better than many similar options and worth considering if you get a
half-price online deal.
