In-Depth Information
their income by making handicrafts and providing meals and accommodation for visiting
trekkers.
On single-day treks, the only equipment you need is a pair of good walking shoes.
Meals are usually included in the price of the trek, while you should buy and carry your
own drinking water. Trekking goes on year-round, but expect muddy conditions during
the rainy season (approximately June to October).
Trekking without a guide is not recommended - the trails are confusing, the terrain
challenging and few people in the hills speak English. The going rate for a day hike is
around K8000 to K9000 per person, overnight treks between K10,000 and K15,000 per
person, per day, in groups of two or more.
