the same name is this watery plot of 20 elevated duplex bungalows. Rooms are smart and
light, with lots of windows and huge balconies, some overlooking nearby rice fields. An
eco theme sees the rooms built using mostly natural materials and including interesting
quirks like a Shan-style wooden 'refrigerator'.

more expensive rooms in this wannabe boutique hotel are attractively decorated with
murals and cultural artefacts, while the cheaper rooms feel a bit tight and plain. Still, it
remains among the more professional-feeling hotels in town, albeit rather overpriced dur-
ing the high season.

no faults with the recently renovated bungalow-type rooms here - they're attractive, neat,
spacious and come equipped with hot shower, fridge, TV and air-con - except for their
insanely overpriced high-season rates.
Eating
T he food situation in Nyaungshwe can be pretty uninspiring. Most restaurants tend to
reach far beyond their culinary capabilities, yet there are a few places that serve local
food. The good news - if you're a fan of quantity over quality at least - is that serves
tend to be rather large and there's an emphasis on rather gentrified Burmese- and Shan-
style set meals, most starting at K3500. In this genre, Unique Superb Food House
