come and sample a traditional Burmese breakfast before exploring the temples or after
catching sunrise somewhere near New Bagan. Try Shan noodles or deep-fried doughnuts.

large, tasty portions of dishes such as traditional Myanmar chicken curry and tomato

overlooks the eight faces paya. The menu includes a tour of popular Thai dishes and
doubles as a drinking den by night, churning out chilled Myanmar beer.
Sunset Garden BURMESE, INTERNATIONAL $$$
( 061-65037; mains K2500-7500; 11am-10pm; ) Boasting the best riverside setting of
any of the New Bagan restaurants, Sunset Garden has a huge deck above the Ayeyar-
wady with spectacular sunset views. Head here for a sundowner before the tour groups
pile in for dinner. The menu includes a greatest hits selection of Burmese, Chinese, Thai
and international dishes.

(mains K4000-9000; 11am-4pm & 6-10pm; ) The good-value and tasty Myanmar set
meal (K8000) comes with a couple of curries, vegetable tempura, soup, dessert and cof-
fee. There are small and large portions of other dishes (including local curries). But it's
the setting that's the deal, with shaded tables on a lawn overlooking the Ayeyarwady
River.
