of Old Bagan. Rooms are set in stone cabanas with sweeping tented roofs. Spacious and

Ongoing expansion will eventually see 80 rooms, but the owners will need the garden to
keep apace to provide some shade.
Eating
New Bagan's Main Rd is lined with several Chinese and Burmese restaurants. Many for-
eigners grab a meal on the riverside, just west of the centre. There are several restaurants
overlooking the Ayeyarwady and you can either be lost amid the tour groups or have the
place to yourself. Bagan's only supermarket, and it's not very super, is Yadanar Mart on
Main St.
Naratheinkha Restaurant FRENCH, INTERNATIONAL $
( 09-5242420; New Bagan; K1500-5500) Blink and you'll miss it, this tiny little shopfront
restaurant is well-regarded thanks to the chef-owner's extensive experience at Le
Planteur Restaurant in Yangon. The menu is predominantly French-accented or Asian fu-
sion and includes a delicious pan-fried fish with lemon butter sauce.
