Ascend a modern shophouse to
eight cosy rooms looked after by two charmingly overbearing yet almost entirely non-

style breakfast is served.
Myeik Guest House
HOTEL $
(cnr Strand Rd & Sake Nge Jetty Rd; r $25; )

most of the rather bare rooms here don't have windows, but compensate with air-con, TV
and fridge.
Dolphin Guest House
GUESTHOUSE $
( 059-42868; 139 Kanphyar Rd; s/d incl breakfast $35/40; )
A vast villa housing
equally spacious rooms - the double rooms nearly echo (they're also the only rooms with
TV) - inconveniently located 1 mile northeast of the town centre.
Myaseesein Hotel
HOTEL $
( 059-41272; Strand Rd; s/d incl breakfast $30/50; )
A grand exterior and an address on
Strand Rd are masks for bare, small, overpriced rooms.
Palé Mon Hotel
HOTEL $
( 059-41841;
palemon.myeik@gmail.com
;
Kanphyar Rd; r $35-45; )
A cavernous place
with worn, bare rooms, inconveniently located near the airport. A last resort only.
Eating
A local speciality in Myeik is
kaq kyi kaiq
(scissor-cut noodles): rice noodles that have
been cut into short strips and stir-fried with egg and seafood - a lot like
phat Thai
. Try
them at the friendly
vendor
(no roman-script sign; K800)
near the mosque in the Muslim
quarter.
