Apart from the parasol workshops, there's the night market that is set up each evening in
front of Customs House, where teenagers cruise, flirt and hang out while vendors purvey
food, clothing and tools and just about every other requisite for daily life at low prices.
Just south of Shwemokhtaw Paya is the Central Market , and just south of that the New
Market , with all manner of goods.

can help arrange all kinds of trips and adventures in the area, including boating along the
Pathein River; motorbike taxis in the countryside to visit Kayin villages and out to the
beaches; and the necessary permits for Mawdin Point.
Money can be changed at CB Bank (cnr Merchant St & Shwezedi Rd) where you'll find an
ATM accepting international cards.
