In-Depth Information
Open Final Cut Pro from either your Dock or your Applications folder.
1
If this is the first time you have launched Final Cut Pro, there are a few settings to
choose. To simplify this process, you'll accept the initial defaults and then change the
capture scratch location.
In the Choose Setup dialog, leave everything at default and click OK.
2
NOTE If the Choose Setup dialog did not appear, you have previously used Final
Cut Pro. Continue to step 3.
3
If the External A/V warning dialog appears, select “Do not warn again” and click
Continue.
NOTE If you receive a Non-Writable Scratch Disks warning, click Reset Scratch
Disks, click OK, and then skip to step 6.
From the Final Cut Pro main menu, choose System Settings.

5
In the System Settings dialog, for scratch disks, click the Set button at the top of the
list. Navigate to Macintosh HD and select the FCP Scratch Disk folder you created
earlier. Do not select the Capture Scratch folder inside.
NOTE Final Cut Pro will automatically direct transferred files to the Capture Scratch
folder inside the selected FCP Scratch Disk folder. If you select the Capture Scratch
folder, FCP will create a new Capture Scratch inside the existing Capture Scratch folder.
