In-Depth Information
Open System Preferences, click the Final Cut Server icon, and then authenticate.

Click the Devices button and then the Add (+) button in the bottom left. Select
Local in the Device Setup Assistant and click Continue.
NOTE If you were configuring a true FTP device, you would have clicked on the
Network button instead and entered the relevant FTP info (login name, password,
hostname). Likewise, when adding a true Xsan device, you'd need a true Xsan volume,
and Final Cut Server would have automatically configured edit-in-place for you. In
this exercise, you will choose Local for all three devices.
For Device Name, enter FTP , navigate to the /FCSvr/Destinations/FTP location, and
click Continue.

Don't select the “Enable as an Archive Device” checkbox; you won't archive anything
to this device, because you're pushing finished content to a delivery destination. Click
Continue to move on to the Scan Settings dialog. You won't scan this location either,
as again, you're only pushing content for delivery to external systems. Click Continue.
The Transcode Settings dialog appears.
Remember how you made three folder types under your destination devices at the
beginning of the exercise? This is where you configure the transcode settings.

Scroll through the list and enable the following: H.264 for AppleTV, H.264 for iPod
Video and iPhone 640x480, and MPEG-4. Checking these transcode settings allows
you to automatically transcode an asset to the specified format through a watcher or
through a metadata subscription. Click Continue when finished.
At the final dialog of the Device Setup Assistant, verify that all of your settings are
correct, and then click Done to finish adding your new device with its configured
transcode settings.
