Adding New Users for Review and Approve
Throughout the course of this lesson, you'll work with accounts for four users: an admin-
istrator, an editor, a producer, and an executive producer. If you're in a midsize to large
environment that has directory services deployed, adding users to those services is outside
the scope of this topic. You can reference the Mac OS X Server Directory Service manual
for step-by-step instructions on adding users to Open Directory. If you need to use Active
Directory users, please consult the Final Cut Server Administrator Guide for step-by-step
instructions on how to configure your system for integration with Active Directory.

accounts will be used during the Review and Approve process with email notifications,
and also in using annotations. These are just example users and should not be used in
production unless they're properly secured.

Open System Preferences, click Accounts, and then click the lock on the bottom to
authenticate yourself as an administrator.
Enable Fast User Switching by clicking Login Options at the bottom left of the
Accounts pane and selecting the checkbox for “Show fast user switching.”

Click the Add (+) button to add the producer. For New Account, choose Standard
(you don't want this user to administer the server). For Full Name, enter Producer ;
for Account, enter producer ; for Password, enter producer ; and then re-enter the same
password for Verify. When you're finished, click Create Account.
Click the Add (+) button to add the Executive Producer user. For New Account, choose
Standard; for Full Name, enter Executive Producer ; for Account, enter execproducer ; for
Password, enter execproducer ; and then re-enter the same password for Verify. When
you're finished, click Create Account.

Click the Add (+) button to add the Editor user. For New Account, choose Standard;
for Full Name, enter Editor ; for Account, enter editor ; for Password, enter editor ;
and then re-enter the same password for Verify. When you're finished, click Create
Account.
Click the Add (+) button to add the Producer group. For New Account, choose
Group; for Full Name, enter Producer, and click Create Group. Select Producer
