Deleting Assets
Deleting assets in Final Cut Server gives you the option to remove an asset and its
primary representation or just the asset from the Final Cut Server catalog.
Therefore, deleting assets from Final Cut Server should be done with great caution,
especially if they have not been archived first. Otherwise, the original file will need to
be uploaded again.
NOTE You'll learn about archiving in a later lesson.
There are two methods of deleting assets:
Select the asset or group of assets and press Command-Delete.
Choose Delete from the asset's shortcut menu.
In either case, a warning dialog confirms your action before the asset is deleted.
The Remove Asset option removes all traces of asset from the catalog, leaving the origi-
nal file intact. The file may be uploaded again if desired. “Delete File and Asset” not only
removes all representations of the asset from the catalog, but it also deletes the original file
from the device—proceed with caution.
NOTE Only users who are given privileges may delete files.
