In-Depth Information
offer the same convenience to your colleagues, friends, and family? Create your own vCard and fire it off to
whoever you think wants it.
A card should have been added automatically when you set up your user account, so look for it under your user-
name. If for some reason you don't have a card, choose File →New Card, or press +N and fill in the fields.
Make sure that Contacts knows this is your card by choosing it and then choosing Card →Make This My Card.
This changes the standard card icon to a silhouette of a head shot and also adds “me” to your picture.
One of the main advantages to designating your own card is that you can easily navigate to it by choosing the
Contacts app's Card →Go to My Card command.
Before sending your card, note that Contacts includes your card's picture by default. If you don't want to add your
picture to your vCard, choose Contacts →Preferences, click the vCard tab, and then deselect the Export photos in
vCards check box.
Now you're ready to create your own vCard. Follow these steps:
1. In Contacts, choose your card and then click Edit.
2. Make sure your Contacts card contains all the data you want to include in your vCard and that it is
accurate.
3. If there are any items you don't want to include in your vCard, deselect the check box to the right
of each item.
4. Click Done.
5. Click the Share icon (it's to the right of the Edit button) and then click Email Card. Contacts creates
a vCard file for your card and attaches it to a new e-mail message. Note, too, that you can also use the Share
icon to send your contact info via instant message or via AirDrop.
6. Fill in the rest of the message (recipient, subject, and so on) and then click Send.
