If a disc contains otherwise unobtainable data, you can attach a MacBook Air SuperDrive to the MacBook Air USB
port.
No external drive in sight? Okay, you have another option: Get another computer to share its DVD drive over
the network. You could then access the remote drive and use it as though it was a local drive.
The DVD or CD Sharing feature first appeared in OS X 10.4.10. To share a DVD drive, the other Mac must be run-
ning at least that version of OS X. You can also share the optical drive on a Windows PC, as described in Chapter 12.
First, here are the necessary steps to share another Mac's DVD drive:
1. In the Dock, click System Preferences.
2. Click Sharing.
The Sharing preferences appear.
3. Select the DVD or CD Sharing check box.
4. If you want the user of the other Mac to be able to approve the remote use of the DVD drive (a
good idea), leave the Ask me before allowing others to use my DVD drive check box selected.
Now you're ready to use the remote DVD drive on MacBook Air. Follow these steps:
1. On the other Mac, insert the disc that you want to access from MacBook Air.
