• When you get to the Which Type of Installation Do You Want? screen, click Custom.
• When you get to the Where Do You Want to Install Windows? screen, click the BOOTCAMP partition.
• Boot Camp formats the BOOTCAMP partition using the FAT32 file system, which won't work for
Windows 7. Windows 7 requires a file system called NTFS. When you get to the Where Do You Want to
Install Windows? screen, click the BOOTCAMP partition, click Drive Options, and then click Format.
• The Install Windows program automatically reboots your Mac a few times during the installation, and
each time you see a screen that says the following:
Press any key to boot from CD/DVD.
When you see this message, do
not
press any key or you just start the installation process all over again.
• When prompted by the installer, specify your colors, PC name, wireless network, user account, and oth-
er settings.
2. When the Windows installation is complete, insert your OS X installation disc or flash drive, or the
disc or drive that contains the Boot Camp Windows support software.
Windows prompts you to run
setup.exe.
3. Run the setup.exe program.
If you're running Windows 8 or 7, you need to provide User Account Con-
trol credentials to continue. The Boot Camp installer appears.
4. Click Next.
The License Agreement dialog appears.
5. Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement option, and then click Next.
6. Make sure the Apple Software Update for Windows check box is selected, and then click Install.
Boot Camp installs Apple Software Update for Windows, which takes quite a while.
7. Click Finish.
Boot Camp lets you know that you need to restart the computer to put the changes into ef-
fect.
8. Click Yes to restart MacBook Air.
With Windows installed on your MacBook Air, you can now switch between OS X and Windows, share files,
and more.
