Restoring your system
If disaster strikes and you can't start MacBook Air, you need to restore your system to an earlier state when it
was working properly. Here's how you do this using Time Machine:
1. If you're using a version of OS X prior to Lion, insert your Mac's Install DVD or USB flash drive.
2. Turn on or restart your Mac.
3. Hold down the Option key while your Mac is restarting. Your Mac displays a list of start-up disks.
4. In OS X Mountain Lion or Lion, double-click Recovery HD. For earlier versions of OS X, double-
click the Install DVD or flash drive, and then click the Continue arrow.
5. In OS X Mountain Lion or Lion, click Restore From Time Machine Backup and then click Contin-
ue. In earlier versions of OS X, choose Utilities → Restore System from Backup. The Restore Your System
window appears.
6. Click Continue. The Select a Backup Source window appears.
7. Click the hard drive that contains your Time Machine backups.
8. Click Continue. The Select a Backup window appears.
9. Click the backup you want to use for the restore.
10. Click Continue. The Select a Destination window appears.
11. Click Macintosh HD.
12. Click Restore. Install OS X begins restoring your system.
