Examining the contents of the Trash is crucial because once you empty it, you can't turn back the clock — all those
files are permanently deleted and there's nothing you can do to get any of them back.
3. If you see a file that you don't want deleted, click and drag the file and drop it on the desktop for
now.
When you finish emptying the Trash, you can figure out where the rescued file is supposed to go.

The Trash Info window tells you how much hard drive space the Trash is currently using.
4. Choose Finder

Empty Trash.
You can also click the Empty button or press Shift+ +Delete.
MacBook Air asks you to confirm.

Now I don't know about you, but after being so careful about making sure I'm not permanently deleting any-
thing important, it bugs me that my Mac asks if I'm sure I want to go through with it. Of course I'm sure! For-
tunately, you can work around this annoyance in a couple of ways.
The easiest is to hold down the Option key while you choose Finder → Empty Trash or click the Empty button.
If your fingers are limber enough, you can also press Option+Shift+ +Delete.
