Sending all messages from the same account
If you have two or more e-mail accounts set up, you may have noticed one of Mail's quirkier behaviors. When
you compose a message, the account you see in the From list isn't always the same account. For example, if you
have both an iCloud account and a POP account set up, sometimes the From list shows the iCloud account. At
other times, it shows the POP account. What's the story?
The background here is that Mail keeps track of the last mailbox you viewed, and it uses the account associated
with that mailbox in the From list when you next go to compose a message. That actually makes a bit of sense
when you think about it. For example, if you're currently working in a mailbox associated with your iCloud ac-
count and you start a new message, there's a good chance that you want to send that message using your iCloud
account.
However, it's much more likely that you want to use a single account to send most of your messages, so Mail's
default behavior is inefficient. Here's how to fix it:
1. Choose Mail Preferences. The Mail preferences appear.
2. Click the Composing tab.
3. Use the Send new messages from list to choose the account you want to set as the default sending
account.
