Working with Flickr
Facebook is the photo-sharing site of choice these days, but don't discount Flickr, which still boasts tens of mil-
lions of users. If you have a Flickr account, you'll be happy to know that OS X Mountain Lion enables you to
connect with your Flickr account and then use that connection to upload photos from iPhoto, Photo Booth,
Quick Look, and more.
Configuring your Flickr account
You can't upload anything to Flickr from within OS X Mountain Lion until you've configured your Flickr ac-
count. Here are the steps to follow:
1. In the Dock, click System Preferences. You can also choose Apple → System Preferences. The System
Preferences window appears.
2. Click Mail, Contacts & Calendars. The Mail, Contacts & Calendars window appears.
3. Click the Flickr logo. If you don't see the Flickr logo, click any existing account and then click the Add
button (+) at the bottom of the account list. System Preferences prompts you for your Flickr sign-in data.
4. Use the Sign in using pop-up menu to choose your usual Flickr sign-in method. Your choices are Ya-
hoo! ID, Facebook, or Google.
5. If you are signing in with your Yahoo! data, type your Yahoo! e-mail address and password, and
then click Sign In. If you're authenticating with Facebook or Google, click Next and then log in to the ser-
vice.
Sending a photo to Flickr
With your Flickr account ensconced in your preferences, you can start the upload frenzy. As an example, here
are the steps to follow to upload a photo from Finder:
1. In Finder, select one or more photos.
2. Click the Share icon and then click Flickr. OS X displays the Flickr share sheet. Alternatively, you can
right-click the selected photos, click Share, and then click Flickr.
3. Use the Title text box to type a name for the photo.
4. Type a description of the photo.
5. Add one or more optional tags.
6. Use the Access pop-up menu to choose who can see your photo. Figure 5.4 shows a photo ready to up-
load to Flickr.
