Click OK. The purple rectangle should fade to transparent from right to left.
Now you will use the Gradient Feather tool to adjust the direction of the fade.

In the Tools panel, select the Gradient Feather tool ( ). Hold down the Shift key,
and drag the pointer from the bottom to the top of the Light Purple rectangle to
change the gradient direction.
