Mac OS may override the zooming keyboard shortcut. You can disable sys-
tem shortcuts in System Preferences > Keyboard.

Hold down Ctrl+spacebar (Windows) or Command+spacebar (Mac OS) so that the
Selection tool icon becomes the Zoom tool icon, and then click the hummingbird
to magnify the view. When you release the keys, the pointer returns to the Selec-
tion tool.

You can cut off the panel shown below to fit this text. This is something that arose
due to new Mac OS.

Choose View > Fit Spread In Window to center the pages again.
Navigating through a document
There are several different ways to navigate through an InDesign document, including us-
ing the Pages panel, the Hand tool, the Go To Page dialog box, and controls in the docu-
ment window.
