Other Mask Features
In addition to being much simpler and easier to work with than the old 3D curve method of creating masks, the
new Mask tools have some nice additional features built in. Anti-Alias, Feather, and Motion Blur options are
automatically included, and you can activate each of them in the compositor with just a click of a check box, as
you can see in Figure 10-41 .
Feathering,thedegreetowhichthemaskblursoutattheedge,doesnotneedtobeuniformaroundthemask.
In fact, you can easily control the feathering distance at any or all points around the shape of the mask in the
Mask Editor. Holding the Shift key and dragging your mouse outward from the edge of the mask will create
feathering control points. If you do this along an existing control point, a uniform feathering distance will be
created, with separate feathering control points at each handle, as shown in Figure 10-42 . If you drag out a
feathering controlpointfromthecurveataplacewherenocontrolpointexists,afeathering areawillbecreated
between the two nearest control points, and the new feathering control point will adjust that feathering area.
