see that the plane and the cube are on separate render layers, called Background and Foreground, respectively.
Review Chapter 4 of this topic, “Rendering and Render Engines,” if you need to bone up on how render layers
work.
In Figure 10-27 you can see that I've resized the cube and placed it directly on the floor plane off to the side
of the scene. This is an easy place to composite it, because it won't get concealed by anything during the course
of the clip, so compositing it is just a simple matter of dropping it on top of the scene.
