In-Depth Information
The problem here is that two very similar looking patterns can be foundonthe screen within the search area.
The algorithm gets confused and jumps away from the correct pattern (the banner on the left) to the incorrect
pattern (the banner on the right). It is absolutely necessary that active tracks stick to the same point in space
throughout their lifespan, so jumping from one point to another is no good.
In this case, a simple fix is to adjust the search area so that it no longer includes this competing pattern. The
searchareacanbemovedbydraggingtheboxonitsupper-leftcorner.Backinguptoframe107andmovingthe
search box as shown in Figure 10-12 should do the trick. After that, I can simply track forward again and the
tracking will begin fresh from the current frame, overwriting the problem track from before.

This time, the track manages to get as far as frame 117 before stopping again. There are a couple of things
I could try to get this track to advance further. I could change the size or shape of the track pattern itself by
dragging the four corners of the pattern marker. This creates a new keyframe pattern and is often effective at
jumpstarting a stalled track.
