With Prepass selected, you're almost guaranteed to get much better results with all other values the same.
For the pattern I worked with in the example, I got a much better track. You can see a segment of the track in
Figure 10-10
. The current frame is where the track marker is, and the red and blue edges extending to the left
and right represent previous and subsequent frames, which have all been tracked.
This track went well from the beginning of the footage until frame 107.
