Figure 10-4 Setting the timeline's Playback to Clip Editor
4. At the bottom of the Clip Editor window is a dark blue strip that turns light blue as the frames are
cached. In Figure 10-5 , you can see that frames up until frame 88 have been cached. If the clip does not
cache completely, it may be that you don't have enough memory allocated to Clip Editor caching. You
can adjust this in the System User Preferences.

5. For this clip, the end frame is 195. If you advance to this frame, you can simply press the E key to set
it as the end frame (likewise, you can set the start frame by pressing the S key).
Staying on Your Toes with Development
The functionality described in this chapter is brand new and under intensive development as part of the Mango
Project Open Movie, Tears of Steel. I'm including it because it is absolutely vital for using Blender as a general
tool for live-action VFX. However, in order to best describe these important developments, I am using the latest
available graphicall.org builds at the time of writing. Because of this, there are almost certain to be small incon-
sistencies with how the software looks and functions when the official build of 2.64 is released, which may be a
month or two off still. If you've gotten this far in this topic, I'm sure you can handle this.
