Postinspection Chlorine Residual
Retest the chlorine residual following the inspection procedure.
The chlorine residual value should match the value obtained
before the procedure. Chlorine may be added to the facility (using
calcium hypochlorite granules or sodium hypochlorite solution to
the water surface) to bring the residual to the preinspection
level. Mixing by circulation (predisinfected mixers or pumps may
be used) should be provided.
Bacteriological Testing
Sampling should be conducted and testing provided as
described in Chapter 5. When results are satisfactory, the storage
facility can be returned to service. Unsatisfactory results require
retesting and possible redisinfection (Chapter 5).
Affidavit of Compliance
Contractors may be required to provide documentation that
attests to compliance with all aspects of the disinfection standard
(ANSI/AWWA C652).
