Chlorination Chemical Calculator
The approximate amount of chlorination chemical needed for
10 mg/L chlorine concentration for a given size tank is calculated
as follows (use either US or SI units):

This calculator (c5-5) allows for the use of any chemical, or
any strength, for any size storage facility. Just plug in the num-
bers and calculate the answer. Make sure that all of the values
are either in US or SI units.
The first value is the volume of the tank. This comes
from the tank volume calculators or Table 5-2 for hori-
zontal cylindrical tanks.
Next, insert the value from Table 5-3 for the chemical
selected (liquid chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, or calcium
hypochlorite).
The third factor is an adjustment for the strength of the
chemical if it differs from the amount in Table 5-3. The
