This table shows the approximate chlorinator feed rate
settings for various fill rates to achieve 100 mg/L dosage.
To get the setting for other dosages, just multiply the setting
for 100 mg/L by the ratio: other dosage/100 mg/L.
Example: The pipeline fill rate is 30 gpm but the desired
dosage is 25 mg/L. For a 30 gpm fill rate the chlorinator
feed setting from the table is 36 lb/day. Multiply this setting
times the ratio 25/100 = 9 lb/day.
Use the chlorination chemical amount calculation checklist on
page 28 to ensure that you have all of the items needed to make
the calculation.
The pipeline diameter and length are used to calculate the
volume of the pipeline from Table 3-6.
The number of valves, hydrants, and other appurtenances
determine the number of tablets needed for disinfection of
these items. Usually one tablet for each is adequate.
