Note: Normal alkanes in the semivolatile range elute from
-tetratetracontane. The dominant acyclic isoprenoid hydrocarbons elute
from farnesane to phytane. The nominal detection limits are 1.0 µg/L in water and 100 µg/kg in solid samples using GC/FID or GC/MS
instrumentation.
