In-Depth Information
From now on, any apps you start that require X11/XQuartz will automatically
switch to the new space to run, and they will start in full-screen mode without
the Dock or OS X menu bar present. However, by nudging the mouse cursor
at the top edge of the screen, you can make the main OS X window appear.
Here you'll be able to quit X11 once you've quit the app running within it.
X11 takes over the keyboard so all keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys that allow
you to switch spaces or activate Mission Control no longer work. However, a
curious trick (or possibly a bug!) will let you get around this—nudge the
cursor at the top of the screen so that the OS X menu bar appears, and then
click the Help menu. Full-screen XQuartz will disappear, revealing the desktop.
You can now switch spaces in the usual way or use Mission Control. To return
to full-screen XQuartz, just click the XQuartz icon on the Dock, click Window,
and select the app from the list beneath. This will also switch you back to
the XQuartz desktop space.

There are two stashes of screensaver files. The first contains old screensavers
with lower-resolution images, and the second contains new screensavers with
very high-resolution images. You can extract images from both as follows:
1.
Start by creating a folder within your DOCUMENTS folder where you can store
the wallpaper files you're going to extract. It doesn't matter what you call
this.
2.
We'll start with the folder containing the old screensavers. Open a Finder
window, hit SHIFT + COMMAND + G , and type /SYSTEM/LIBRARY/SCREENSAVERS . You should
see screensavers listed by name. We'll start by extracting the images from
the Beach screensaver, although the technique is the same for all the files
in the folder with a .SLIDESAVER file extension, such as COSMOS.SLIDESAVER . Right-
click BEACH.SLIDESAVER and, in the menu that appears, click Show Package
Contents.
3.
Use Finder to navigate to the RESOURCES folder. Here you'll find the images
listed, usually in sequence and usually in the JPEG format. In the Beach
