In-Depth Information
If you drag and drop onto a day shown within Day or Week view, you'll be
able to set the time for the event by moving it up and down vertically before
releasing the mouse button (the appointment time is automatically set for an
hour, which is default).
If Calendar is set to Month view, the time of the event will default to midday
when you drop the email onto a particular day, but you can easily change
this by clicking the Edit button in the pop-out window that also appears,
which will let you edit the event in the usual way.
Note that you'll be prohibited from dropping an email onto a day shown
within the Year view of Calendar.
Create a New Calendar Event from a Web Page
Click and drag just about anything from a web page shown in Safari onto a
day displayed in Calendar, and you'll automatically create an event named
after the text of what you drag. You can drag a web link, for example, or an
image (in the case of an image, the new event will be named after the “alt”
text, which is the text that appears in a tooltip if you hover the mouse cursor
over the image).
If you drag and drop onto a day shown within Day or Week view, you'll be
able to set the time for the new event by—before releasing the mouse button
—moving the link up and down vertically (the appointment time will be set
for an hour, which is default).
If Calendar is set to Month view, the time of the event will default as midday,
but you can easily change this by clicking the Edit button in the pop-out
window that also appears, which will let you edit the event in the usual way.
It's not possible to drop a link if you have Year view selected.
This tip is ideal if, for example, you're browsing the page of a conference you
intend to attend that is listing its various events—just drag and drop the link
to the event onto the day it's due in Calendar.
