In-Depth Information
that sound files are copied to Mail's own private store of sound files so
can be deleted if you want once you've added them.
7.
When you add the sound, you'll be treated to a preview of it.
8.
Click Done in the Sounds dialog box, and then select the new sound from
the drop-down list of sound effects. When you do this, you'll hear a preview
of the sound.
9.
Click OK to close the Rules dialog box. You'll be asked whether you want
to apply the rule to messages in selected mailboxes. There's no need to
do this, so click Don't Apply.
Your new rule is in place. It's now just a matter of waiting until a mail arrives
that matches the criteria you set! Note that the rule will be applied only to
new mail you receive.
To remove the rule later, again open Mail's Preferences dialog box, and click
the Rules tab. Then select the rule in the list, and click the Remove button.
Tip 103
Migrate from Outlook to Calendar
Calendar in Lion and Mountain Lion has impressive features and might
prompt you to make the move from Microsoft Outlook or Entourage for your
appointment needs. If you decide to make the switch, you can drag and drop
an existing calendar event from Outlook or Entourage onto an open Calendar
app window to immediately import it.
Tip 104
Stop iTunes from Adding Track Numbers
Most people are happy to let iTunes entirely manage their collection of music
files, but some choose to delve into the iTunes filestore in order to make copies
of any files that have been ripped from CDs. I do this to play the files on my
car's stereo, into which I can insert memory cards full of music files.
