click the Opacity text box on the options bar to highlight the numeri-
cal value and type 50% .
4. A faster way to changes values is to scrub the label. Position the cur-
sor over the word Opacity on the options bar. Drag to the left or right
to rapidly change values. Hold Opt while dragging to go slower or
hold Shift to change values much more quickly.
5. A more precise approach is to use the arrow keys to change values.
Press the up arrow or down arrow key to increment or decrement
the value by 1 unit per press. Hold Shift and press the arrow keys to
change values by 10 units per press.

Creating tool Presets
Tool presets provide a way to save time on configuring options. You can save
tool presets for any tool and recall them using the tool preset drop-down menu.
Let's create a new tool preset.
1. Select the Polygon tool and set Sides to 5. Open Geometry options
and select Star. Open the Fill type drop-down and select Gradient
mode. Select the Orange, Yellow, Orange preset gradient, and select
Radial type. Set stroke amount to 8 pt. Open the Stroke type menu
and select solid color and click the black swatch (see Figure 2.15).
