In this chapter you have learned how to apply adjustments to improve a piece of traditional
artwork. But the techniques you have learned can be applied to all types of digital images.
You also used smart filters and fill and adjustment layers to create a unique texture. By
using this parametric approach, you don't have to commit to specific adjustments and
filters permanently, and that means you have room for experimentation to arrive at an
acceptable result. You should practice these skills to create a wide variety of textures and
artistically altered photos. I encourage you to explore the many other filters and adjust-
ments on your own because each is another tool in your digital darkroom.

Open Texture-Final.psd and select the Smart Filters mask thumbnail in the Layers
panel. Set black as the foreground color by pressing X. Select the paintbrush and paint a
“lake” on one of the “continents” in the texture image you created in this chapter. If you
have the Extended version of Photoshop, select all the layers, and then choose 3D a New
Shape From Layer a Sphere to wrap the texture on a “planet.” The results are shown
in the following image.
