Rays Layer
In the following steps you will create and fill a Rays layer and apply Gradient
Overlay, Inner Glow, and Outer Glow effects.
1. Continue using Digital-Art-1.psd . Create a new layer by clicking
the Create A New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel.
Double-click the name Layer 1, type Rays , and press Enter.

2. Toggle off the Octagram layer and toggle on the Background layer.
Press G to select the Paint Bucket tool. Click within each of the rays
of the star (a total of eight clicks) as shown in Figure 9.6.

3. Toggle off the Background layer and Cmd+click the thumbnail of the
Rays layer to select the black pixels you created in the previous step.
4. Choose Select a Modify a Expand and click OK in the Expand
Selection dialog box to accept the value of 1 pixel. Press Opt+Delete
to fill the selection with the foreground color (black) and Cmd+D to
deselect all.
