Using Layer
styles and Comps
Layer styles allow you to manage layer effects and layer-blending options
through a dialog-box-based interface. Layer effects offer you tremendous
creative possibilities, and everyone from graphic and web designers to illus-
trators and digital artists use them every day. Layer comps can record all
the layers' styles, positions, and visibility settings; you'll learn to use comps
to explore design variations. In this chapter, you will re-create a piece of my
digital art from a line drawing and in the process explore layer effects, styles,
and comps.
