2. Choose Window a Arrange a Float All In Windows if they are not
already floating.
3. Press V to select the Move tool. Hold Shift and drag the Masculine
image into the Feminine image. Close Masculine.psd without saving
and then save Feminine.psd as Blending.psd .
4. In the Layers panel, slowly decrease the opacity of Layer 1 by drag-
ging over the word Opacity toward the left. You will progressively see
more of the rose. Press 0 to restore the opacity of Layer 1 to 100%.
Opacity is the simplest type of blend.
5. Open the blend mode drop-down in the Layers panel. Blend modes are
separated into groups in the menu by horizontal lines (see Figure 8.12).

Here are brief descriptions of the blend modes.
Normal modes Normal mode is used by default, so it's the most com-
monly used blend mode. I've never seen anyone use Dissolve mode. (Perhaps
it is grouped with Normal because opposites attract?) Layer groups (folder
icons in the Layers panel) also have a Pass-Through blend mode appearing
with the normal modes.
You'll learn about Pass-Through in Chapter 11, “Adjusting and Filtering.”
