Type is measured points or picas. The following relationships apply:
1 pica = 12 points
6 picas = 72 points = 1 inch
You can think of one pica as the ideal font height for body text. Table 6.1 lists
a range of font heights associated with different uses of typography.

You can enter picas or points in Photoshop, and both units are available on
the rulers. However, points are the preferred unit of measurement; the font size
drop-down lists points only. Photoshop accepts the abbreviation pt for point, but
no abbreviation is accepted for pica.
A font is the vector source for all the glyphs (letters, numbers, and symbols)
of a particular typeface. When you installed Photoshop, your operating sys-
tem integrated a collection of useful font files into its inner workings. You can
purchase additional font files from Adobe (see www.adobe.com/type/ ) or other
vendors.
